Tom Hiddleston apologised for *that* embarrassing Golden Globes speech
Jordan Strauss Jordan Strauss
ON SUNDAY NIGHT, Tom Hiddleston won a Golden Globe for his performance in spy drama The Night Manager.
Once on stage, he proceeded to deliver a rather self-righteous speech about a recent visit he to South Sudan with the United Nations Children’s Fund, of which he is an ambassador.
While in South Sudan, he met some humanitarian aid workers who had watched The Night Manager.
Hiddleston stated that he was proud to have been able to provide “relief” to the aid workers in question and dedicated his award to those “those out there who are doing their best”.
Needless to say, it didn’t go down well with many viewers criticising it as self-congratulatory and tone deaf.

Those in the audience didn’t much care for it either.

Last night, Tom Hiddleston apologised for the speech in a post on Facebook.
“I just wanted to say… I completely agree that my speech at the Golden Globes last night was inelegantly expressed,” he wrote. “In truth, I was very nervous, and my words just came out wrong.”

Okay, Tom. We’ll let you off the hook this time. Next time, prepare your speech in advance.
